About me

With a career spanning over 30 years - from university professorship to leadership in the United Nations, I bring extensive knowledge of strategic policy development, leadership, and hands-on operational experience in the application of science, technology and innovation for sustainable socio-economic development in national and international environments. I am highly proficient in distilling complex development issues in the areas of science, technology, and innovation into tangible results. This includes appropriate and optimal integration of nuclear and non-nuclear technology in achieving development goals.

Throughout my 25 year career at the United Nations, I was known as a pragmatic leader with an uncompromising commitment to quality and international development outcomes. At different periods I served in various regions as Director for Technical Cooperation for Africa, Asia and the Pacific, and Europe at the International Atomic Energy Agency. The job involved leading diverse programmes covering various development related sectors - healthcare, agriculture, food, energy, industry, water resources and the environment, amongst others. It also involved driving multilateral diplomacy in the peaceful use of nuclear technology. During my tenure, I cultivated successful professional relationships with a wide range of high-level experts, institutions (national, regional, and international) and policy makers in science, technology, and innovation.

I have in depth knowledge and practical experience in leadership and in the application of the Results Based Approach to programme design and management, as well as the formulation guidelines and training modules on the subject.
